Confusion about eating back calories burned...

So I know the general rule is to eat about half of whatever MFP says you burn because it's overestimated. I got a HRM recently, and when I do things like walking/jogging, my HRM says that I've burned more than what MFP says. So I'm kind of lost on how many calories I should actually be eating back.

Start with eating back half and if you're not losing weigh, then eat back less.
also remember, the HRM is only accurate for steady state cardio.

    Verify your HRM settings

It's just something you have to play with. A big downside to the MFP method is estimating calories out...it's very difficult, particularly for anything outside of steady state aerobic cardio.

MFP was accurate for me...for circut training anyway.

I would check HRM settings and eat back what I felt was good and watch the scale. Does your HRM have a chest strap? and are you doing steady state cardio?

Settings are accurate. And yes, it has a chest strap. I don't always do steady state cardio (but I do wear my HRM for every workout). I think I'll just start with eating back half and see what happens. Thanks everyone! :)

I eat back the exercise calories until I am satisfied. Sometimes that's 1/3, sometimes that's 1/2, sometimes that's all of them.

    I do the same
