Metamucil Sugar Free

My doctor has recommended that I start taking Metamucil. The sugar free supplement has 20 calories per dose and you are supposed to take 3 doses per day.
I was wondering if I should count these calories in my daily intake? I'm assuming I would but I just want to get some opinions (since it is a supplement and not actual food).
Also, I was reading some reviews that said some people experience weight gain and water retention while taking this. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this?
Thanks!

According to metamucil FAQ it doesnt count. Thats not say its correct though.
From their website
"If Psyllium Husk is a carbohydrate, why do Metamucil Capsules contain zero net carbs?
In strict scientific terms, natural psyllium fibre is a polysaccharide that is a subclass of carbohydrates. Although psyllium fibre is part of the carbohydrate total, it is, in fact, very different from carbohydrates such as sugar, glucose, fruit sugar, corn syrups, and starches. This is because our gastrointestinal enzymes cannot digest psyllium; therefore, our bodies do not absorb it and do not convert it into glucose."
In my experience though due to previously on a bad diet I found with the increase in fibre it assisted me to lose more weight not gain it. If the doctor is telling you to increase fibre you might be the same.0 -
Thanks for the reply! I didn't even think about checking their website0

Must say I weighed pretty much everything that wasn’t zero calories (that includes things like "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray with 0 calories – if I used more than a few sprays. -- 12.5 sprays is actually 10 calories; and if you drink the whole bottle it’s 900 calories; Bottoms-up!
According to calorieking to burn 20 calories, you could do any of the following: 5 mins walking. 2 mins jogging. 2 mins swimming…
So the short answer is yes, I would record anything that was going to total 60 calories in one day.
Good luck.

Thanks for the response! I am of the mindset of counting everything calorific too, especially now that I am getting closer to goal and the weight loss has slowed down.0
