What can I do to better myself on rest days?

I usually just do yoga in the evening on rest days. Sometimes I find myself "working out" without even realizing it. I know I really need to take rest days seriously because I'm young, but I feel so unaccomplished and bored throughout the day. Is there anything I can do that will keep me from exercising but feeling accomplished at the end of the day? Something I can do that'll be beneficial to my running performance.

I don't see anything wrong with yoga, stretching, or taking a walk--and these will also help your running. I also use "rest days" to catch up on house cleaning.

Walking is good to do, not too harsh on the body, but a decent workout nonetheless. :)

It's called a REST day for a reason - your body needs rest in order to recover for peak performance...
Go for a walk - a casual one, not a timed one...
clean out your closets, go for a bike ride, go shopping....Do not obsess.....

    Rest DOES better you.

I am sure you are a wonderful person and I apologize if this was too harsh.:flowerforyou:

I guess it depends on what you do and how much rest you need. A lot of people have "active rest" days between workout days and one full rest day a week. It is ok to be active daily. You just need breaks from weights and intensive training.

    Read a book

We don't read books, that's what television is for. :flowerforyou:

Seriously though OP, the possibilities are endless. Take up a hobby (I like to paint, and yes, read books), clean your house, learn a new skill.

Clean your house and catch up on paperwork.

It's not like you have to go into a coma or anything.

Rest. Thats what you can do.

Walk around and do normal chores and try to be active but rest itself is of epic importance.

I'm not calling you lazy because I don't know what you do on your non-rest days, but if you're working as hard as you should be, rest days are like a breath of fresh air. I spend mine doing mobility work, stretching, massage, eating, and sleeping.
