What can I do to better myself on rest days?

I usually just do yoga in the evening on rest days. Sometimes I find myself "working out" without even realizing it. I know I really need to take rest days seriously because I'm young, but I feel so unaccomplished and bored throughout the day. Is there anything I can do that will keep me from exercising but feeling accomplished at the end of the day? Something I can do that'll be beneficial to my running performance.

I don't see anything wrong with yoga, stretching, or taking a walk--and these will also help your running. I also use "rest days" to catch up on house cleaning.0

Walking is good to do, not too harsh on the body, but a decent workout nonetheless.0

It's called a REST day for a reason - your body needs rest in order to recover for peak performance...
Go for a walk - a casual one, not a timed one...
clean out your closets, go for a bike ride, go shopping....Do not obsess.....0 -
Rest DOES better you.
I am sure you are a wonderful person and I apologize if this was too harsh.:flowerforyou:0 -

I guess it depends on what you do and how much rest you need. A lot of people have "active rest" days between workout days and one full rest day a week. It is ok to be active daily. You just need breaks from weights and intensive training.0

Read a book
We don't read books, that's what television is for. :flowerforyou:
Seriously though OP, the possibilities are endless. Take up a hobby (I like to paint, and yes, read books), clean your house, learn a new skill.0 -
Clean your house and catch up on paperwork.
It's not like you have to go into a coma or anything.0 -
TOPIC: What can I do to better myself on rest days?
Rest. Thats what you can do.
Walk around and do normal chores and try to be active but rest itself is of epic importance.0 -
I'm not calling you lazy because I don't know what you do on your non-rest days, but if you're working as hard as you should be, rest days are like a breath of fresh air. I spend mine doing mobility work, stretching, massage, eating, and sleeping.0

Another vote for read a book. Or watch a film, learn a language, volunteer... Whatever... You're more than just a body!0
