Made my diary public, can you see it?
At first mfp told me to eat 1000 cal a day, that didn't work so I upped it to 1200. Even on days I rode bike 2 hrs, was not eating back exercise cals. Then started eating more like 1500 on days I ride hard.
It is my understanding that MFP won't give you any less than 1200 calories...
Even at 1200 calories...2 hours of bike riding...not eating back exercise calories...you were netting less than 1000...
I wouldn't have had the energy to move.
Others said that to me but mfp did give me 1000 calories at first. Even at 1200 I was having trouble with no energy, sometimes couldn't even think straight.0 -
MFP has had a bug for a while now where it'll recommend less than 1200 calories when it shouldn't do.0

Your logging is inconsistent and you need to use a food scale. 3/4 of a banana? Weigh everything. If you're not losing, you're not at a deficit.0

Any suggestions for how to do that better? Sometimes I have to eat on the go and I don't have a food scale in my car so when I eat 3/4 of a banana while I'm driving I put 3/4 banana...0 -
Weigh it (raw) before you go and wrap it in saran wrap *or put it in a storage container.0

Yeah I love peanut butter but limit to not very often I thought. I do weigh it in g on digital scale. Again maybe I'm selecting the wrong entries because I don't take the time to scroll through them all, I pick the first one I see that looks right.
I've personally found that I've had to manually enter a lot of my own data just because of the inaccuracies on the database...
...Tighten up your logging and keep up with the exercise - you'll soon see the weight coming off! You can do it!
Thanks for the suggestions! And thanks for the moral support - needed that more than anything.0 -

Weigh it before you leave. Weigh what's left of it and the peel when you get back and subtract the difference. Log the remainder.
A lot of your logging problems can be solved with pre-planning.

Make snacks that you can bring with you. Weigh them when you pack them so you know exactly how many calories they are. It's somewhat difficult for bananas unless you're happy to peel it, weigh it and put it in a box or something, but you could cut it up with other fruit and make a fruit salad to bring with you.0 -

There's an "American" metric system? I thought there was just "the Metric system" and that it was internationally accepted...0 -

Measure a different banana every day for a week or two, you'll be able to judge how much 3/4 of a banana is at the end of those 2 weeks.0 -
I really think that you should pay a visit to your doctor first. There could be some underlying issues that can be addressed. Especially since you mentioned blood sugar issues and the rapid change from underweight to overweight.0

I had been in pretty much the same boat as you. I'm about 5'6" and 43 this month. I was gaining and losing the same 2 lbs for 6 weeks and I was so frustrated. Last week I started making ALL my food, keeping salt super low, no processed foods or sugar. The only starches I get are from green veggies, sweet potatoes, and brown rice (all plain, no salt). Which is fine because I LOVE sweet potatoes and brown rice. I'm not really missing bread or anything like that. Last week I dropped 4 lbs. eating anywhere between 1200-1500 calories. I suspect it was the sodium that was getting me. Here's why I say that. Last Sunday for Easter I ate ham and homemade scalloped potatoes. Not even a ton - maybe 2 slices of ham and 1/3 cup of the potatoes that were drenched in cheese and butter and salt! Plus maybe 1/2 cup of green beans cooked with BACON!! Yeah, it was heaven. But breakfast and lunch were my healthy foods. When I weighed myself on Monday, I had GAINED 2 lbs. But I started back on my regular eating on Monday and by Tuesday had shed those 2 lbs. So I'm retaining a TON of water from all that salt. I recently had a physical so it wasn't anything with my glands/thyroid or hormones. And I also started lifting last week, which I do 4-5 days a week (different muscle group each day) and HIIT cardio just a couple days a week and I'm already feeling a difference in the way my pants fit.
It's only been 1.5 weeks, and my eating is not perfect (as you can see from Easter dinner), but I plan to make this a long-term lifestyle change.0 -
I fell like I am reading my story. I am a runner. I run 20-25 miles/week plus do cross training with lifting light weights and do core workout (p90x) . Have all my blood tests done to make sure my hormones are not helping me gain weight, and watch my food intake. The only thing i can admit is I don't weigh my food. I will have to start doing that. I have gained 15lbs since last 3 months. I have not done anything different than what I did 3 months ago, i.e. my food intake and exercise regimen. I am very frustrated with my self. Nothing is fitting in my closet. I just can't stop gaining. Not sure what has gone wrong? FYI, I had lost weight 4 yrs ago and was able to maintain it for all this time till now. Can Anyone help???0
