Barbell Row-5x5

Just starting my 5x5 and I have a dilemma with the barbell row. I'm using the empty bar(45lbs) to start with as I've never lifted before. For the barbell row the starting position for the bar should be on the floor. Without plates this is not possible. Just curious how anyone else got around this until they added the larger plates.

    put some plates on the floor and place the bar on the stacks.

    The squat rack at our gym is rarely used for squats, so I place the bar across the low part under the safety holes, after removing the safeties. I do the same for dead lift, as well. Just another option along with the plates.
