Hi I've tried this a few times on 1200 calories and always given up because I'm hungry and binge! I do binge eat a lot saying no chocolate from tomorrow then after a few days shoving everything in site. Thinking to start off on losing a pound a week and eating treats if I want them so hopefully I won't feel restricted. Has anyone else done it this way just eating healthy but if there's calories left to use them on treats? My meals are healthy but I can't say no to sugar!
I need to lose 3 and a half stone hopefully a lot of it by October. Any advice would be appreciated

That's how most people here do it - everything in moderation. No need to deny yourself anything as long as it fits in your calories, and don't worry about going over once in a while.

I lost most of my weight eating primarily junk food at uni, so you certainly don't need to worry about the odd treat ruining your weight loss. It works as long as you're in your calories.

Yes! I tried the 1200 calories for almost a year on here, and pretty much was an on for a week off for a week logger. I had not success like that.

Eventually I decided to shoot for 1lb a week (for me thats about 1600 calories). I regularly fit moderate amounts of chocolate into my day. I lost 40 lbs that way, took a little break, and am back at it losing again with the same plan. Taking it slower will get you to your goal faster if it means you stick to your plan. It's kind of like the old tortoise and the hare fable :)

Good plan on staying away from 1200 calories.

    Advice...

Buy a food scale to weigh solids and log accurately....meaning if you weight 125grams of chicken log it as such....not 1 breast as you don't know how heavy that is.

Be consistent with logging even if you hate what you have to log

Don't give up the foods you love/want/crave as mentioned...fit them in.

Try prelogging at least 1 day to see how you would do and tweak as needed.

If you look at my diary on Monday it's all logged for the work week and yes there is chocolate in there everyday along with potentially fast food , pizza, tacos etc...depends on what I feel like that week.

Eat back some of your exercise calories to fuel your next work out...

Set reasonable goals...50lbs by October might be reaching as after the first 25lbs losing 1/2lb a week is a more reasonable goal.

24 weeks until the first of October so you could easily be down 20-25lbs...

    Good luck.

This is a sensible approach. Set your weight loss goal to 0.5 or 1lb loss per week. This will give you a calorie goal that is easier to stick to long term, and you will have room to allow you to enjoy the foods you love.

Just be sure to log accurately as a smaller deficit means a smaller margin for errors.

MFP has me on 1210 calories right now... I try to eat healthy at least 80-90% of the time and as long as it fits in my calories I will eat pretty much what I want... (I had BK for lunch during a a conference yesterday and still was able to stay within my calories) While it wasn't my best day of food choices, I can't remember the last time I had "fast food"... I find if I don't deprive myself of the things I am craving I don't feel like I am on a "diet" and if I'm not on a "diet" it will be more sustainable. I guess for me it's more mind over matter... Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice! My heads definitely in it now now that I know I can eat it if I want instead of slip ups and I stop doing it. I'll make sure I log healthy meals and any calories left over I'll use for treats if I watt by them! Thanks
