If you know where you are going out to you can look ahead at the restaurant menu online and find options that fit into your calorie goal. Just a little bit of planning goes a long way. There is nothing wrong with splurging a little bit for your birthday though. Happy Birthday!

You can choose whether it is a successful week or not as far as staying on track with your goals. If you tell yourself it is going to be bad, that is basically just giving yourself permission to blow off your goals. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy! Think about what is most important to you, and don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now! Of course you want to have a good birthday, and its always ok to celebrate and treat yourself, but try to keep it within your goals. Look up the nutrition info for the places you will eat ahead of time and plan out your meal to stay within your calorie budget. Think of ways you can make swaps or little sacrifices to keep yourself on track and still enjoy yourself. For example, if you really want a piece of birthday cake, have that, but then maybe skip the wine at dinner and drink water instead. Or, if you really want a steak for dinner, have that, but instead of a baked potato or fries as a side, get a salad. Planning ahead and telling yourself you can have a great birthday and still stay on track at the same time will help you be successful!

    Happy birthday! :)

It's your birthday... A couple of days at maintenance won't do any harm. Enjoy!

Hi fergie - it was my birthday a couple of weeks ago - It was a special one and my work colleagues held a surprise party for me - I had to eat 3 slices of cake (as I did not want to offend the people who had baked them) and also had to eat cheese and chicken nuggets etc - I felt awful after, but thougt "what the heck - I deserve a bit of a treat and can walk it off" . I was also whisked away to Prague for a holiday. Lots more food here and they don't scrimp on the servings either - I had some ribs the first night - they were huge - never seen ribs as big and smothered in honey. I also had a lot to drink. At night in bed I felt awful - so fed up and hating myself as I had been doing really well with my weight loss and thinking I had blown it. A few days into the holiday I changed course and decided that I could either blow it or try and undo some of the damage. I walked and walked on the rest of that holiday and watched what I ate - I had soup and fruit etc - when I came home I weighed thinking the worst and I weighed 2lb less! So it goes to show you can have a treat now and then as long as you keep in control
