Tips for navigating the message boards

I'd be interested to hear tips from people about how they navigate these message boards, especially people with experience at other boards.

I've used many boards that are "v-bulletin" formats, all of which have a similar look and feel. On those boards, not only can you easily find your way back to threads you've posted in, but you can click a link and be taken back to the spot where you last posted in those threads. It's a great way to re-join a conversation already in progress, exactly where you left off.

Here, I've figured out how to get back to the posts, but there's no way to find where I posted (or who posted after me and may have responded to me) without reading through all the pages. I suspect this is why so many people post once in threads and then leave. You'll see people ask questions of other folks that never get answered because they never see them!

How do you find that you even keep a conversation going that way? I KNOW people get to know each other here - I've already read about two engaged couples who met here, so I know it happens! I just can't figure out how you all navigate this place and actually *converse* rather than post a hit and then move on to another topic.

I'm beginning to think that no one knows how to find their way around here! It's really easy to post ... it's just hard to find your way back to a conversation after posting in it!
