Foods to Soothe Nausea?

Hi everybody. So when I'm on my period, and/or I get a migraine, it leads to me getting terrible nausea and then throwing up what I had just eaten. It really sucks - it's started today, both my period and a migraine. I just couldn't keep my dinner down. I'm trying to gain weight, but when I get like this it is really hard to eat a lot. It just won't stay down. So I was wondering, are there any foods out there that could help with my problem? I heard peppermint tea helps but I would like something with more calories, if possible. .-.

I swear by ginger tea. No calories, sorry, but it is amazing for tummy issues. Ginger is a well known home remedy for nausea and carsickness. You can get ginger candy and glace ginger, which will have calories as it is sugared.0

I used to suffer with bad motion sickness during car journeys as a kid, and my mum would bring peppermint tea and ginger biscuits with us; combination of the two usually held me over!
I appreciate tea isn't calorific and the biscuits not especially if you're only eating a few, but at least if your stomach is settled you can get back to a higher calorie intake quicker if you're trying to gain weight. Very plain foods, like dry toast, might be more likely to stay down if you anticipate the nausea kicking in in the near future.0 -

Ginger is good, either ginger ale or in tea, mint chocolate chip ice cream, saltine crackers0

Gingerale, Peanut butter toast (very little PB on it), saltines....those are my go to naseau foods.0

Depending on what is going on, white rice helps.
Hubby and I buy fresh ginger and keep it in the freezer. When we make tea, we cut off a slice. We also cook with it a lot.0 -

A monthly headache might be dehydration. Try drinking a full glass of cold, cold water.
Other migraine "cures" that are not medication based include resting in a dark, quiet room, or sticking your head in the overhead freezer for a half minute.
My daughter lived on soda crackers when she was pregnant, and pretty well nauseous throughout.0 -
Buttered toast or crackers are what helps me. The butter provides cals and the toast or crackers helps keep the salivation down. (For me it's the excess saliva that makes me nauseous)
I also used up puke because of pain. Is it possible your migraine is from an increase of blood volume and pressure?
I use excedrine and an antihistamine when I have a pressure migraine.0 -
You might want to look at a FODMAPs diet. My nutritionist has me doing it and it has really helped my stomach problems.0

The BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, and Toast) is commonly prescribed for tummy troubles. Also yogurt is good for digestive system in general. I have started eating Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt. It sweetened with Stevia and has about 120 calories,15 grams of protein, and 6-7 grams of fiber.0

Food or drinks with peppermint or ginger could help.
Maybe look at taking a supplement with B vitamins or magnesium to see if it helps with the migraines.0 -

Ginger works best for me....our health food store carries ginger chews that are effective and convenient. Recently I also took dried mango and coated it with fresh ginger processed with orange juice.....then brush the paste on the mango and let it dry....tasty way to get some ginger0

Hello everybody, it seems like ginger anything and crackers/toast is the general consensus for my remedy. I'm so thankful for all the answers (and thank you to @urloved33 for complimenting my hair lol) and I will try them all next time. I think we have some green tea with ginger actually, so that may help. Thanks again guys! Peace0
