Eating without distractions....say whaaat

If I'm not going out with friends, my second favorite way to spend a night is watching a movie or show while eating dinner and maybe a bowl of popcorn and/or dessert. It's way too easy to mindlessly eat while watching TV until I've eaten way too much. I'm starting a journey toward intuitive eating, as in listening to my body's natural hunger cues, and so I've decided to (to the best that I can) give up eating with distractions. This means no computer, no TV, no phone, etc while I'm eating and just focusing on the eating experience. This is a new thing for me and wow, has anyone ever tried it? It totally changes the eating experience entirely. Eating is almost.. boring now, ha. But I've noticed that I'm eating much slower, enjoying my food more, and stopping when I'm full (because I'm actually paying attention to when I'm full!). In this busy world, it seems like a waste of time doing nothing but eating when I could be doing homework, checking emails, etc simultaneously. However, I really think this is important for everyone to try if they want to lose weight or even just get in touch with their hunger/fullness. I'd love to hear about other's experiences with intuitive eating. How many of you eat in front of the TV vs. eating at the table?
For your next meal, I challenge you to put away all distractions and tell me what you think
