Hello all

I'm diabetic. I am hoping this app will help me control it. Any exercise or dietary advice would be appreciated.

Hi rbj and welcome! I've been T2 for about 10 years with varying amounts of control. I finally got great advice and am in the 100s pretty consistently. Are you T1, T2 without insulin, or T2 with insulin? Very different for each of the 3.

In a nutshell, aim for 3 or 4 meals with 40 carbs each or less. Forget all the other stuff; just watch the carbs -- PER MEAL not per day. Test, test, test. You'll find out what your triggers are. Pretty much, if it's white, it ain't right. Log your food and your blood sugars. You'll see a connection.

This page is great: http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/index.php. Tasty recipes at http://nomnompaleo.com (not a diabetic site, but diabetic-friendly).

Most of all, don't get discouraged. Sometimes you will go "off plan." Just make the next meal "on plan." I used to be hungry all the time when I was eating a lot of carbs. I eat a lot less now, but am always full.

Thanks for the advice JTGJTG! I'm Type2 no insulin. But I was out of work for a while and stopped getting my pills and was eating horribly. But now on on a mission to get back in control. Joined a gym. Got more pills. And yes trying to avoid carbs. Which sucks because I love mashed potatos and rice. But it's all about moderation. I replaced the three servings of potatos with 1 serving and 2 or 3 veggies.
