Banking exercise calories

Hi everyone,

So today I exercised for 2 hours (one hour of intense cardio and an hour of strength or body pump and body attack), I approximate that I have burnt about 700 calories, also yesterday I did 3 and a half hours of exercise so I assume even if I am a overestimating my calorie burn that I underestimated it yesterday so I should be okay... So if I don't feel like eating my exercise calories today (1200 + exercise cals) would it be okay to spread them over tomorrow and the next?

Yes. Nothing significant is going to happen in a day. Look at the bigger picture, aim for long term sustainability.

probably counter productive in the long run as this would result in excess calories when you dont need them.... while your body isn't on some 24 hour clock, it does have requirements... If you create a deficit you will burn fat stores or muscle and you can only burn so much fat in a given time frame... I wouldnt make a habit of doing what you're doing and I definitely wouldn't use a word like "banking". my two cents

Sounds like a slippery slope to me. So in the long term where are you going to count the cut off point for your 'banking'

It reminds me of people I know who do weight watchers who starve themselves for some days to save up their points for a big blow out for the weekend. Similar principle it doesn't promote a healthy sustainable way of looking at your food consumption. Just my opinion
  • Hey thanks you all for your input. I never plan to 'bank' beyond maintenance, so I'd never save like 1000 calories and have a 2000 calorie blow out day or anything.
