So I'm a 911 dispatcher, and while I try not to be a slave to the vending machine, sometimes when I forget to grab something or i get the snackies, its a must. We cannot leave during our shifts to get food, and we have no breaks/lunches during our 12 hour shifts, and mines is overnight ontop of that.

So our machine had exactly 3 types of things in it - Bags of Chips - Chocolate Candy Bars - and Dougnuts (powdered/choclate in the mini rolls)

I asked my boss who stocks the vending machine and when they come to fill it up, two weeks ago I came into work early and met the vending guy and he was super friendly, I asked about what products get chosen and he told me the pick what will sell. I mentioned how i wish there was some better options, granola bars, 100 calorie packs, ect.

I came into work tonight, and guess what, we have tons of new stuff - 100 calorie packs of chex mix and the yogurt covered pretzels, granola chewy bars, veggie chips, baked chips, sunflower seeds, and fig newtons.

Also, it looks like some of them have already been purchased a few times which makes me happy and hope they keep getting stocked!

Shortened virson - I asked the vending machine guy at work about heathier options and we got them! All from a little conversation!

I do the same job (but in the UK) although we get allocated lunch/tea breaks, is that not illegal??

I used to work at an auto parts store and I got the vending machine guy to stock slim fast bars. I'd never do slim fast now, but at the time I thought it was a great idea.

Definitely an awesome victory...never know what we can get accomplished until we ask! Ilm working on the owner of the corner store near my house and seems receptive so I can't wait to see the new options! Thanks for sharing!

Maybe the OP is in America? USA has some terrible laws (or lack of) to protect workers. I would need to pee at least 6 times in 12 hours and get up to fill my water bottle 3 or 4 times too

I am in America, we can get up for bathroom breaks and we can go get our food from the fridge bt we have to eat at our desks, we don't get to clock out or leave
