So eat some foods you like, in moderation. Add some vegetables you enjoy. Have a glass of wine. Log it and lose.

Thanks but the food I like had so many calories. I loveee bread. N I love wine. . N when I cook veggies, I use allot of butter. I see what I have to do but it's so hard

Well, if you want it-get it. Veggies taste good not drenched in butter. Or...in a half tablespoon, or even a 1/4 tablespoon. And bread is fine. Just log it. And wine...half bottle instead of the whole thing, or just a glass. No problem.

Yup. That's pretty much it. I'm doing fairly well and I haven't cut a single thing out of my diet. Not fast food, bread, candy, cut way back on soda but I still work it in now and then. Cheese and mayo on my sandwiches, creamy salad dressings, whatever. All you have to do is adjust and all the pieces will fall into place in a way that works for you.

You can also try a less aggressive goal. Did you tell MFP something like 2 lbs a week? Try more like 0.5 lb or 1 lb. Yeah, sure, slower. But you can eat way more, and you only have 30 to lose anyway, so you don't want to cut too aggressively. And exercise! MFP gives you those calories to eat back. :)

(Re: Exercise calories -> They are sometimes an overestimation though, so many folks start by eating back 50%, maybe 75%, and see after a month or two how that is working, and adjust if necessary.)

Veggies: Try roasting them in olive oil, with salt, pepper, etc. Add things like onion, garlic, spices, herbs when you're cooking veggies, to add flavour, don't rely entirely on butter or oil for that.

Bread: Bread can be really nice! Maybe try some new kinds, and check out the nutrition labels. If I had never branched out, I wouldn't have discovered I actually really like breads like rye and pumpernickel. And some brands are lower cal than others. Try to come up with ways to reduce the bread in your usual bread meals, and come up with some new meal ideas that don't use bread -- both of these tactics will help you fit bread in a little more easily.

Wine: Have less. Or, have days where you don't have it, and save some calories, so that you can indulge a bit more on other days. Or use your exercise calories. :)

Remember that you do not have to jump into weight loss. Try making some changes first, maybe play around with logging to learn about it. Start walking a little more, now that the weather is nicer. Start small, ramp up, build momentum, instead of leaping in and then thinking you can't do it or aren't prepared.

I have a 6 oz glass of wine with dinner probably 1/3 of my nights. You can fit that in if you plan on it ahead of time.

Vegetables taste great with a little bit of balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and garlic powder - try it! My husbands favorite asparagus prep is lemon juice, salt pepper garlic powder, with the tiniest amount of olive oil, little bit of parmesan cheese baked in the oven for a few minutes until crispy.

Bread is fine. I've switched to whole grains (personal preference) because they make me feel full longer and I don't eat as much. I weigh my portion, eat it, and don't go back for more. Works just fine! I even have butter with it some nights although I've found that I love laughing cow cheese on bread a heck of a lot more than butter.

Stop demonizing what you see as healthy food - maybe set a goal for yourself and try 1 new recipe each week to learn how to cook something with a new preparation. You may find some that you love!

I also recommend juicing (not as a meal replacement or diet technique/detox) but as a way to help adjust your taste buds a bit. I started by making juices with a lot of fruit and just a few things of spinach or kale in it and slowly started adding more and more vegetables and fewer and fewer fruits and it helped recalibrate my tongue just a bit. Plus it helps get in a few more nutrients to my daily eating. Just something to consider!

Look at it like this, let's say all you eat is Twinkies. Let's say you ate 2000 calories a day in Twinkies before you came to MFP. If you cut those Twinkies to 1500 calories you will loose weight.. Make sense?..

So you can still eat and consume the things you love.. just consume less of it. Try it out, you find restricting or eliminating will not work..

Enjoy the things you love, just do not love them so much that they become harmful (like drinking too much alcohol cutting into your calories or eating too much food that you gain weight or get undesired results, etc..)..

    You go this... :):)

Butter has a strong taste and you'll find a little goes a long way...you can probably use a fraction of the butter you're using...maybe supplement it with garlic and a little salt and pepper..and you'll find you enjoy it just as much. Good luck!

Just remember to log everything. ..including the butter. That could easily wipe out your deficit if you have too much. :)

Very true! I used butter for the first time in awhile last night on my veggies. Only 4 grams. It was delightful.
