why aren't I losing more weight

I track my calories, and I exercise regularly. 2 times a week I do a zumba class, and I went back to doing Billy Blanks videos. Last night I danced at a wedding for an hour straight.

I have been doing this for over a month and have only lost 2 pounds.

I do see a change in my body shape, however, not so much in the scale.

what am I doing wrong?

If you are building muscle while loosing fat you will not see much weight loss on the scale. Muscle does weigh more then fat. If your body is looking better then don't worry about numbers on a scale. If you are concerned about your BMI think about this both Brad Pitt and George Clooney are both overweight by BMI.

Probably nothing wrong here...you ARE losing. Exercise in itself really doesn't make you lose...that's all in how much you're eating. Keep a close eye on your food intake and you'll be fine. Besides...you said you're seeing differences in your body...isn't that really what you want anyway?

Do you accurately measure your cals/food portions?

Is there a chance you are overestimating your exercise burn?

    Do you log everything?

Three important truths that are usual suspects

Without knowing your age, height, and how many total calories you are eating, it is impossible to say what the problem is. If this is your first month of calorie restriction, then yes, it is a bit unusual to only lose 2 pounds, and you may need to reassess your calorie level. However, if you have already been eating at a lower level before now, then the first big water weight loss is already gone, and you will either need to be a bit more patient and change your expectations, or reassess your calorie levels and lower them just a bit.
I hate to suggest lowering calories when you haven't stated what level you are at now, so I am assuming that you are eating much more than 1200 a day. You may also be underestimating exactly how many calories you are eating, and overestimating how many you are burning. If you eat back your exercise calories, that may be the problem. You can't rely completely on the exercise database numbers.

She won't "build" enough muscle in 2 mos for it to make a difference on a scale. Pro bodybuilders barely can.

It's probable that your muscles are retaining water for repair.

I am 5' 4" 36 yrs old, and it gave me 1200 calories to eat a day.
I do not have a scale to measure my food, however, I do my best to judge it.
I have lost 6 lbs. altogether and 3 lbs since I started logging.

I see results from exercise and so I will keep on trucking.

    thanks everyone
