I'm probably being overly sensitive, but yesterday my husband and I were meeting with a vendor for my son's bar mitzvah. She asked my hubby what he did for a living, but not me. I am also employed too!! I felt insulted. Do I give off a vibe that I don't work? I have been a stay at home mom in the past, but went back to work a few years ago.
Rant over, just had to vent!

I've had people tell me that my job isn't a real one (I'm a home health aid) because I *would* do it for free. I love the people I work for, and I really would help them free of charge. That doesn't mean I'm dumb enough to do it.

As for your situation, maybe the vendor was just trying to make light conversation with whomever they thought had the money so she could talk you into buying more stuff than you really needed.

I work full time and my husband is a stay at home dad. I get weirdness about that a lot. The fact is he has a bad back, but is capable of looking after the kids. People often seem to think he isn't able to feed the kids, do most house work (some he shouldn't do ) and support me. Some people are sexist without realising it, and some just are and don't care.

Chalk it up to a vendor who wasn't on her a-game.

It is hard to say what really happened just based on the detail provided.

If you really want insight into this from a social group, I think your real life might have more meaningful opinions than strangers on the Internet.

The vendor probably has a lot on her plate in terms of work responsibilities and wasn't meaning to assume you didn't work.

    Just my .02.
