The "Jiggly fat" effect??

Good Morning All,

I rejoined MFP on January 4th...my cliche' NYE resolution being to get into better shape and reach my wedding weight.

I made goal, losing nearly 25 lbs, by the end of March.

I then switched my focus to body recomp, increased cardiovascular health, maintaining weight within a range, etc.

I was doing very well or so I thought until the past week...2-3 lbs came creeping back quite unexpectedly...but the more troubling effect was that my stomach, hips, and thighs became noticeably wobbly.

My clothes fit much better then even just a few weeks ago, and my measurements compared to a month ago (being very close to goal at that time) are down almost 10 inches! However...when I take my clothes off I can't help but be disappointed by the composition of my belly/hips/thighs.

I did a google search and all this information came up about the jiggly fat effect. Sure enough, I did as the articles urged and felt my NEW problem areas...and I found what felt like little beads under my skin. I NEVER had these before to my knowledge.

So according to the various articles this is an important step in recomp and conditioning and represents deflated fat cells filling with retained water...making the areas jiggly and more mobile.

So anybody have any info/personal experience with this? Also...what do I do and how long does it take to get this to go away??

I'm going on vacation soon....my goal was to be TIGHTER not jiggly!

Thanks...I can see your pebbles comparison. They aren't big like marbles....and they're movable kind of like old time bath beads.

I'm just feeling a little disheartened because I was feeling really good about my progress and then I went bathing suit shopping..only to be in for a very rude awakening. Smaller but squishier tummy and thighs.

I have the same thing, and the more I lose weight the more they appear. I think it just needs time so the skin catch up with the weight loss. I also lift weights to have better shape.

I go through periods where I appear very thin and periods where it seems I've put on 5 pounds and 2 inches to my waist. It generally goes away after a bit, so just keep up the work.

I've gotten pebbles under my skin before. Some people seem to think they're like marbles, but they don't feel like that to me. If you've ever seen a popcorn sprayed ceiling, that's what I imagine going on under my skin. It only seems to happen in lean parts of my body...forearms, my outer quadriceps... I've read the articles too and I hope it means my body composition is changing. As for how long, it seems I notice them for a month or so in a particular area and then it seems to go away, only to reappear in a different area. Not sure if this is what you're feeling, but the articles suggest that jiggly fat, pebbles, and swooshes are related.

I've read this before and while I don't get the pebbly effect, I have kind of a...melting fat thing going on. It doesn't look like loose skin, but it doesn't look like the "fat" I used to have either. It's just kinda...melty/hangy. I first noticed it when I was losing my first 10 pounds, it went away and now it's back again after losing 30. I assume/hope it's something similar to the squishy fat he talks about here and will go away after I drop another few pounds.

I've had issues with loose skin all along the path of weight loss. :X I'm telling myself it will eventually go away. All I lost was 30 lb. You wouldn't really *think* it would be so obvious! The doctor said give it up to 2 years 'cause I am no longer young. I lift, sure enough... I stay out of the sun... I'm knocking on wood and trying to think positive and stuff.
