Flu break

I woke up this morning with flu symptoms (aches and pains, sore throat, fever, no appetite). I've read that you shouldn't exercise while you're sick to allow your body to recover. I usually run followed by push ups etc in the exercise yard (3-5 days per week). I generally also do 10,000 steps just running around with the kids and/or to and from uni.

When can I go back to my usual workout? Do you have to be symptom free or will a few days' break be enough? Are there any types of exercises you can do while sick?

The flu is nothing to play with. After you break the fever and have the energy, you should be able to resume activity. I’d still back it down a bit until you’re 100%.

I am not quite over the flu 7 days after first symptoms. Pro tip- get your rest. Even if you feel good now don't over do it, because it will come back to bite you.

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about easing back into it but it makes sense. Kcrkcs, hope you get over the flu soon.

Our bodies need to recover and mend from from illnesses and injuries... you're smart to post the question.

Some keep right on going and end up with an injury simply because their body is run down and needs time to rest and heal.

    Feel better soon Ladies :)
