it is true that protein fills you up more then any other macro. And fat is the most callorie dense macro.

Are you sure it's no medical reason? I can't imagine fidgeting around burning that many calories if she likes to eat.

I was going to suggest smoothies. We do a smoothie with frozen vanilla yogurt (like ice cream), banana, I bet some Nutella would be delicious in it too, and nice and high calorie.

Just put Nutella on EVERYTHING like I used to.....she'll put on weight like mad.

Have you told her doctors your fear of her ripping out the feeding tube? I honestly can't imagine how they could think that would actually stay put if she can't understand why it's there and hates how it feels on her skin! Some people are stupid.

Honestly I think you may need different dietitian. They obviously aren't comprehending the complications. I also personally don't think her lack of weight gain is from fidgeting. I've seen some pretty epic stemming from some little ones, but those munchkins were still can put on weight. Do you know how many calories she's eating in a day? They way you say it - it also sounds like she either doesn't have much of an appetite or can't physically ingest the nutrients of her food.

The only thing similar to that I've experienced is a friend of mine who had Cystic Fibrosis. He used to eat 5000+ calories every day to maintain. A lot of it was the shakes- coconut, peanut butter, chocolate, etc. that others are recommending because it was calorie dense but not too much volume. He also ate a lot of pot brownies, which are an obvious no go. However, is there anything a bit more legal to help your daughter have a larger appetite? Maybe that's something you can ask her pediatrician about?

I agree with the liquid calories. My elderly mom is under hospice care, and was uninterested in eating. I make a high calorie, high protein chocolate shake and heat it up for her. It's like supercharged hot chocolate. Add a little whipped cream, some sprinkles, and mom can't get enough. She's still hanging in there, and now eats meals as well. It's like the protein drink in the morning makes her more interested in food all day. All the best of luck.
