AM i just being paranoid but has anyone else noticed that since they started to gain weight they have had more unwanted body hair than before? E.g. when i was slim i would get my eyebrows waxed every 6 or 8 weeks. Now i have to get them done every 3/4 weeks and I also have to get other parts of my face ;) which were never an issue before i gained weight, lol. Also i have a bit of a snail trail going on too!! haha
Is anyone else experienceing this? and also can anyone tell me if losing weight will help to slow it down? Thanks

I'm not really sure. I was overweight for so long that I don't know if I was really into my adult grooming routine when I was slimmer. I certainly shave my legs more often now I'm slimmer but that's just because I never used to get my legs out!

I haven't heard of weight gain causing increased body hair, but I've heard of some medical conditions like PCOS causing both weight gain and an increase in body hair? Any chance if could be something like that?

Your profile picture + this question = giggles. Not a funny problem for you I know, just the idea of a dog posting a thread about body hair.

Not sure. I've never shaved or paid attention to my body hair before. My friends say that as they get older, they have new hair in random places though, like the snail trail. Most of them are fairly fit. It might be an age or hormone thing. If you shave, wax, or pluck...then you might want to get used to taking care of the new hair like you would any other unwanted hair. Or just ignore it and let it be.

I have a significant amount, it started showing up when I was thinner. I also have fairly irregular periods, so, I've been told PCOS is a possibility, but I don't really have ALL the symptoms yet.

Anyhow, my face/neck is bad enough to warrant laser hair removal, I go in and have it all burned off every 8 weeks or so. I just shave the rest! I find the rest of it grows back slow enough where shaving is fine, but my face was doing the 5 o clock shadow thing, thus the merciless laser burning.. lol

If you eventually end up going for something like laser, only go to a place where they guarantee touch ups. I paid around $400 for a package deal, but when those ran out I use the $25 touchup's for people who've bought the package. If you have some kind of hormonal imbalance causing it, there's nothing that will keep it permanently away.
