Ketosis!

I started a medical weight loss program! My insurance pays for most of it and it's very intensive. There are weekly support groups with a registered dietician, a low-carb regimented diet with meal replacements, an exercise plan (my favorite part), and close medical monitoring of all my weight components - body fat, water and muscle. Respectively, I am currently at 37%, 46% and 17%. My preliminary goal is to get 30% fat, 50% water and 30% fat and a total weight of 165 pounds (again, that's just to start - my ultimate goal is between 120 - 130 lbs). My basal metabolic rate is 1647 calories/day, and aiming to create a 600-calorie deficit, I'll be consuming between 1000 and 1100 calories/day on a no-workout day, and between 1400 - 1500 on a workout day (as I usually burn between 400 - 500 calories per workout). Plus the stuff I'm learning (and unlearning) from my doctor and dietician is amazing - for instance how misguided most of us are about fat and carbs, and how important protein is. In my macros I'll be most concerned with keeping protein and fiber high and carbs low, without paying as close of attention to everything else. I'm very academically minded and the evidence speaks for itself - ketosis burns fat! I'm so excited!

As long as you are not doing any high intensity exercises that would normally use glycogen for energy you will should find the success you are looking for and just might enjoy that style of eating. Go get em !0

Please educate us about carbs and fat...0

I learned most of that here, for free. Except for that really low calorie goal. That's not sustainable.0

Yes ketosis is a stage of fat metabolism. If you are in a cal deficit you enter ketosis regularly between meals, especially between dinner and breakfast.0

your BMR is what you'd burn as a vegetable, it's your TDEE you need to make the deficit from, not BMR. also please enlighten us about fats and carbs0
