Hunger struggles after long stretch of illnesses?

So since mid February I have had some long bouts of sicknesses. Bronchitis twice and a horrible stomach flu a week and a half ago. I am just starting to be able to eat normally again after about two months of nonstop illnesses. Except I am freaking starving allllllll the time! Could it be because of all the sickness bouts my body thinks its starving? Or because I need extra calories to finish fighting off all the bugs I've gotten? I had no problems keeping up with my calorie goals until just recently, its very disheartening to feel like a failure all the time because all I think about is eating. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I don't know if I should crack down on my eating and be more strict or if I should up my calories a little because I really do need to eat a little extra from being sick for so long. Ugh!
