Help with nutrition...?

Hi there,
I've been logging on MFP for over five years - it's helped me regulate my weight and while I'm still trying to loose a pound or two, diet isn't the main reason I'm writing. I had my blood tested and for the third time in the last 3 years, my triglycerides are too high. I really don't eat a lot of junk food, the occasional dark chocolate, but I don't know where this is coming from. My next stop is a nutritionist, but I thought to ask here if anyone with interest/back ground in nutrition would mind looking at my diary. I'm slightly worried about it given health problems in my family and the fact that I'm not getting any younger:) I'm 35, 5'2", and 112lbs. I regularly work out (4-5 times a week for an hour each).

Best
M

Simple carbohydrates (sugar and white flour) can contribute to higher triglycerides. Try cutting down on breads and white pasta. See what happens

What does your doctor say about this?

she said because I'm small and thin, I shouldn't worry (It was my first time with this doc). But I had a reading of 92 in January and 3 months later 160. She said we'll measure again in June and then see, so I want to see what I can change by then. In the last 3 months I had surgery on my ACL, gained 2 lbs, but no other big side effect.

Typically doctors can give better advice than random people on the Internet

My bottle of omega-3 says "helps reduce serum triglycerides/triacylglycerol," and to take "2-4 softgels daily or as directed by a physician" for triglycerides/triacylglycerol. Maybe omega-3 can help I guess.

That's a good idea with the omega-3, thanks
