I don't know what your starting weight is, but 40 pounds sounds very aggressive. However, if you start using the tools on this website, you could lose SOME weight by July and some is much better than none!

Have you figured out your calorie goal yet? There are some stickied posts at the top of this forum that have great information about how to get started.

40lbs in 10 weeks? Not gonna happen, sorry. No healthily, anyway. 2lbs/week is the maximum healthy recommended weight loss. With 42lbs to lose (if your ticker is correct) you should be aiming for closer to 1 - 1.5lbs per week.

    Good luck!

When you say you 'eat less as much as i can', do you mean you're eating as little as possible? If so, that's not a good approach. Your daily calorie number is a goal, not a limit. Try to hit it every day. Going under occasionally won't hurt, just as going over occasionally won't hurt, but try to get as close to it as you can each day. If you don't eat enough to fuel your body you're only going to make things worse for yourself.

And most people lose several pounds in the first week, most of it will be water weight as your body adjusts to a lower calorie intake. After that your weight loss will slow down to a more consistent pace.

What are your stats (height, weight)? What's your daily calorie goal?

You don't have to eat less as much as you can -- if you have entered the correct information, you should lose weight if you are at the calorie goal. 2 pounds is a great start! We tend to lose water weight at the beginning of calorie restriction, so it may not always be that fast. But it's a great start.

You aren't going to lose 40 pounds by July. That is unrealistic and you're setting yourself up for failure.

Why the deadline? If you wanted to be 40 pounds lighter by July you should have planned a little better and started to lose a few months ago. I think 15-20 pounds is more realisitic and that's if you exercise and eat right.

Get food scale, measure everything you eat and stay at the calorie goal MFP has set for you. You can be 40 pounds lighter in about 6-8 months.

Why are you only eating 900? That's almost certainly too low to meet your nutritional needs, especially if you are also exercising.

No one can say exactly how much weight you'll lose from water, it varies for everyone and individually you can't know how much was water and how much was fat. All you need to know is that if you have a large loss the first week, it probably won't carry on.

Even if you do manage to lose that much weight by then, you'll be ill and weak for your holiday and won't enjoy it. And a lot of the weight will be muscle, not fat, so you won't look as good as if you lost 40lbs at a slower, healthier rate.

Eat to your goal, aim for 1lb/week, and enjoy your holiday! :)
