Broken bones and weightloss

Has anyone lost weight with a broken bone? I broke my foot a couple days ago and I have to stay off it for 6 weeks. Just in time for summer! :( anywho, was wondering if anyone has experience with this? I've worked really hard to lose a little over 20lbs and I don't want to gain it all back! Of course healing is my biggest priority, but I would still like to lose if I can! However I had a very active job(full time cleaner) and was quite active throughout my weight loss. Even just some personal experiences with this would help, I'm feeling majorly bummed out about all this.

    Nope!

I broke my hand in November and even maintaining was tough for a while. You just have to adapt and do the best that you can.

Can you still do upper-body workouts? Could you swim?

You can lose weight without ever exercising technically, you just have to cut back calories even more!

It is a bummer but it's not impossible. Your weightloss might slow down if you were making up a big portion of your calorie deficit by exercising/activity, but just because you can't work out doesn't mean that you'll gain.

Google chair (or seated) workouts. At least they are something.....

I lost plenty of weight while I was out for weeks at a time (on two separate occasions in one year) with a bad back.

Set MFP to sedentary and then pick a goal you can live with for the time being. It might be maintenance, it might be 0.5 lb, etc. You'll have a lot fewer calories if you used to have a very active job + exercise, so even cutting to maintenance at sedentary will be an adjustment.

But yes if you can stick to your calorie target, I'd think you can lose. However, even if you just maintain, I think that would be something to be proud of!

Yeah, I losing would be best but I would be ok with maintaining. I might be able to swim, but not yet as it's still in the first couple days and I have to keep my air cast on, but that's something I will look into!
