I've read that eating coconut oil can be good for burning fat, just wondering if anyone here has ever tried it? Sounds a bit too good to be true in my opinion!

coconut oil is delicious...I cook with it often just as I do with olive oil, avocado oil, and even (OMG) butter...but it is not a magical fat burning potion...

body fat is simply stored energy...calories are a unit of energy and when you exceed your calorie requisites that excess energy is stored as body fat...when you consume less energy than your body requires, you burn stored energy (body fat) to make up the difference...it's not more magical than that...there are no magic potions.

Ironically, not too long ago, coconut oil was the most evil of all dietary fat...now it's a health darling...go figure. Most if not all of the health claims are simply marketing and have little to no basis in actual fact or science. It is delicious though and I highly recommend it for popcorn and cooking eggs.

Part myth, part good marketing: scepticalnutritionist.com.au/?p=844

But hey, CICO. They're your calories, you can spend 'em on anything you like. If coconut oil floats your boat, have at it.

I use it to cook my eggs, but I don't lose weight any slower or faster when I run out or choose a different thing to cook my eggs with.

Thanks guys! I'm always equally looking for a quick fix and sceptical of any that I do find! Guess I'll have to just cut down on the chocolate and cheese and be patient

Yeah, sorry to break it to you but there is no quick fix. There are just a lot of people looking to get rich quick by "discovering" the next quick fix.

A healthy dose of skepticism and a healthy dose of patience are gonna be your two best friends here. Chocolate and cheese are fine in moderation, too; I eat them almost every day and I've lost nearly 35 pounds.

looking for a quick fix is a waste of time...there isn't one...stop wasting your time.
