height/age to weight ratio

Hi everyone, I had a question. If if I'm about 5'5 and weigh 108 or 105 does that mean I'm underweight? Thanks!

More than likely, yes, but it would depend on your bone structure and muscle mass. For example, I'm 5'4" and 135 pounds. I'm fairly muscular and have a large bone structure. I wear a size 4 or 6.

It's rough, but I plugged your info into a BMI calculator:

    Height: 5 feet, 5 inches
    Weight: 108 pounds
Your BMI is 18, indicating your weight is in the Underweight category for adults of your height.
For your height, a normal weight range would be from 111 to 150 pounds.
Talk with your healthcare provider to determine possible causes of underweight and if you need to gain weight.

I'm 18 does that change the way the BMI is or does that stay the same?

It's not based on age or gender but BMI is a pretty rough indicator of whether someone is really under- or over-weight given the factors I mentioned earlier. I used the Center for Disease Control site to find the calculator: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/assessing/bmi/adult_bmi/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.html

Actually, they do have a different calculator for those up to age 19: http://nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx. According to that you're probably just barely in the healthy range, but it's close.
