TDEE

Ok so online calculators tell me my calorie maintanance is 1850, today was my first day using the crane connect activity tracker and after doing some tennis tiny but of aerobics and light weights every now and then it says I burned 2125 so far today, anyone know if that's actually an accurate amount I don't want to get my hopes up for when I start to burn more?

I've found activity trackers estimate high for both your basal caloric burn, and more so for activity burns. When I play tennis for three hours I usually log it at around 900, but my fitness tracker has it around 1400 calories or more. My Fitbit was telling me some days I was burning over 4500 calories! With only eating 1800 calories per day, and a calculated TDEE of 2800, I should have been dropping 3 pounds a week. The reality is, that wasn't happening.

I estimate when I walk a 15 minute pace I can burn about 100 calories per mile, so around 400 calories per hour, and playing tennis is about in line with that. Maybe a bit more.

So really it is best to use a fitness tracker as a general tool for logging time and such, but watch the calories it says you burn.

I have Jawbone. TDEE put me over 1900 a day. I run and lift, only putting lifting into my app, my daily burn is 1650-1750 most days. Higher depending on my steps.
