This is really random and rather pointless but i started weighing most everything I eat a few months ago. Most of the time weighing on the scale shows me that I was over eating before using cups/table spoons to measure. Peanut butter and block cheese being particularly sad. Tonight I weighed out 231g of Stouffer's Lasagna for 280 cals and it was a mound ! I checked it twice to be sure and it was a lot! Again... Totally random and pointless but I just had to tell someone. Lol

Yes, I have discovered weighing out portion sizes versus measuring has often been a noticeable different. For example just today, I made a Green Giant steamable broccoli & cheese to go with my lunch. The serving size said 2/3 cup, but 120'some grams... Weighing it out was more than the 2/3 cup.
Now, I strictly weigh servings ❤

Shred 1oz (which is a typical serving), and see how much it is. It might surprise you.

This is why I am addicted to my food scale. I used to measure with spoons and cups, and these are fine for dry ingredients or fruit, but for the high calories stuff it is dangerous. For example, honey or olive oil. The difference in calorie content between weighing and a spoon can be as much as an extra 50 calories. Same goes for Nuts and nut butters...just a couple extra grams....and boom you are over 200 calories.

True! I put shredded cheese on my salad some days and, like everything else, I tare the scale and add the cheese. I usually end up with about 14 grams (half ounce) when I decide it's more than enough.
