I was about 30%BF & 65lbs overweight when I started the workout. I started doing Insanity until I hurt my knee. The jumping gave my kness fits. My piece of advice from trying this workout would not to go @ 100%. Take your time & make sure to do the movements correctly instead of trying to max out your numbers early. I went too hard too early & only made it to week 5. I was losing around 2.5lbs/week on 1600-1800 cals/day.
  • WOW OKAY THANKS FOR THE TIP!

I am going to sound like a jerk for saying this, but please don't yell at us.

As for the exercise part, yeah, depending on your weight, current fitness, and joint injury history, you might want to do something a little lower impact. Best of luck!

  • I recently finished the 60 day program, and its very hard and yes I'm still considered obese, but it can be done. I would highly recommend doing 30 day shred first then moving on to Insanity. You still will not be completely prepared (nothing can completely prepare), but it does help.

I am 60lb overweight- or was when I started Insanity, since I want to be smaller I am only tracking inches, and after reading all of the forums it sounds like you will build some muscle so the weight loss may feel discouraging. I am SO, SO, SO glad I have started this program, 2 weeks down and 3 inches around my waist alone, 7 inches around my whole body lost. I feel great and although the work out is tough afterward I am love that I pushed through, it feels the best!!
  • WOW THATS INCREDIBLE THANKS FOR POSTING!

I was way out of shape, and a pack a day smoker when I first tried Insanity.
About 2 weeks into my first crack at Insanity, the combination of intense cardio and smoking was too much..............so I quit smoking. It was shortly after that point that I noticed my strength and endurance taking off.

I was pushing harder, taking less breaks. Believe me, I'm still a little "pudgy", but I have also lost a good chunk of weight.

The beauty of Insanity is that you are often encouraged to push at your own speed, and take breaks when needed.
You don't need to be a cross country athlete to do Insanity, but you'll feel like one after you're done.

I do Insanity from time to time. My workouts usually consists of a bunch of hybrids, whatever I'm in the mood for. But I usually do Insanity when i want to burn a ton of calories and really get my heart rate up. You still burn calories, so you still burn fat (from my experience).
Now of course, being obese, I cant do the moves exactly but I always modify to go easy on the knees and I take breaks as needed... I will say it's not my go to workout because it's very advanced, so you might want to start with something a little more doable.
Some of my favs are Chalean Extreme, Turbofire, and even P90X and P90X Plus.
  • I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL OF THE TIPS AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTION!!!! IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!:flowerforyou:
