Who's doing the 5:2 diet?? It's my first day...

Anyone?? Be keen to hear from you... how are you going, what are you eating etc??

Me, breakfast was 2 toast/avocado, lunch was Vege Soup, dinner will be chicken and veges.

Finding it OK so far, pretty hungry and felt a bit headachy by mid afternoon - but surviving!!

Wondering when to have my next 500cal day?!? How do you structure your week?

    Just pick 2 non consecutive rest days. Tuesday and Thursday are usually my fasting days. I've been doing Eat, Stop, Eat for years.

    I find Monday / Thursday works best for me.

    While more than 2 kgs from my goal I aimed for my TDEE (average) on eating days. I am now thinking about moving to 6:1 or increasing my calories on eating days so my weekly calories is not a high deficit from TDEE.

    I drink lots of hot drinks on fasting days. Eggs on toast are common for dinner with something small for breakfast and lunch (porridge, grapes, rice cakes).

    My 3rd fast day today. Lost 2lbs last week.

    Fasting Monday and thursaday.

    I just been moving around my fast days to suit whatever I'm doing in the week, my default would be Monday/Thursday though but I've only been on it 3 weeks. So far I really like it. I find the fast days pretty easy because I'm not obsessing about what I'm going to eat next and it's making feed days easier to stay in my TDEE because I realise that I don't NEED all that food to feel full. And if on my fast days I'm craving something I just stop and think 'I can have that tomorrow', whereas before I'd just try and deny myself everything I wanted all the time.

    Really good advice guys. Thanks alot! Yesterday was my first day fasting, and it was fine, I clocked in a 555cals, so not bad for my first days effort. I am thinking of doing Monday and Wednesday as my fasting days, or Thursday... but will change them to suit my schedule. I weighed in this morning and I was 1.1kgs down on the scales after yesterdays fast, so that is good, my true weigh day is Mondays, so I won't re-weigh until Monday coming.

    Have a look for the 5:2 groups on here, I think there are 2 of them. Also lots of "5:2" threads to look at. Use the search function & see what you find.

    I usually fast on Mondays & Thursdays & my diary is open. I'd suggest you try to avoid / reduce carbs on fast days, as you get more "bang for your buck" with veg & protein. Good on you for trying it out, I'm glad you found your first day OK.
