How do NPC girls do it?

@3dogsrunning was 1800 calories maintenance for you? And 1400-500 a cut?
No, 1800 calories was not maintenance for me. It was already a cut.0 -
I'd also add, I don't recommend drastic cuts like I was doing, especially for sustainable weight loss.0

As other people have said before, the people in those transformations already had a good base to work with. Even if they have more fat to lose than you or someone else, they might have more muscle than you and will probably look a lot better on stage.
Also, people who have more weight to lose do have a slight advantage. Skinny fat is hard to change and will take more patience.0 -
Also, that's a tiny amount of food even for someone who's 5'2". I'm 5'2" and 111 lbs. I eat around 1,700-1,900 to maintain and that's training 3x a week, no cardio unless you count all the walking I do.
Age doesn't change that much. The main reason why people's metabolisms slow down as they age is they get much less active. Hormones can affect how much muscle you build and how fast as well as how fast you lose weight, but it mainly comes down to not letting your muscles atrophy as you get older.
You're 5'2" and 117. You're not overweight. If you're unhappy with your figure now, it's due to being undermuscled and no amount of weight loss will take away any of the 'jiggles' while being undermuscled. Reverse dieting is a beautiful thing.0 -
@Fujiberry I have an UP24 band, I only log non step activities like weightlifting into the app. That's how I came up with my maintenance calories. My BMR is like 1297. On a non active day, I'm only burning like 1385 calories, bc of a desk job. With 20 min of running and 30-40 min of weights, my total daily burn is bn 1650-1750. I was eating at a deficit before, but eating at maintenance for 2 weeks I have remained the same weight. TDEE puts my maintenance in the 1900 range, but since I use the UP24, I trust that more. I think if my maintenance was higher, I would be losing eating at 1650. So this prob is my maintenance calories for active days.0

Did anyone else see NPC and come in here expecting a video game question....? 0_o0

Competition prep and dieting is WAY more intense and mentally draining than just looking to be more leaner. Also for NPC competitors, practically all their free time revolves around working out and eating well. There's also diuretics and some other "leaning" drugs involved at this level of competition.

Not always! But yes... Quite common, and overused and unnecessary in a lot of cases.0
