  • Eating healthy is NOT expensive! You fill up much faster than you do with cheap junk food.. What is more important? Your health or your grocery bill?

I agree that eating healthy can be cheap but I hate the whole "what is more important? Your health or your grocery bill?" mentality -- In my case my grocery bill will ALWAYS come first. That doesn't mean I'm going to cut down to $50/mo and eat nothing but instant ramen but the point is I have a set budget for a reason and don't have the ability to go over that grocery budget. Yes I know how to eat healthy for as much or less as eating unhealthy but the not everyone does.

Sorry that's not what I meant... My point is do you think a roman grocery bill is satisfactory or can you afford $30 - $40 more a week for nutritional foods and are just being stingy with the spending. That's really the hard truth to it and what it boils down to.. I had to give up my weekly movie nights to make my budget work for me but I changed my diet and how I feel now was worth every penny!

Like I said...depends on the person. For me? No way could I handle an extra $30-$40 more a week. You're talking $120-$160 per month. That's the equivalent of most peoples car payments. I get what you're saying but not everyone can raise their budget. I support a family of 4 on only my salary in one of the most expensive areas in the US as far as cost of living goes.

I still don't think you're understanding me lol.. Roman noodles would cost someone what? $10 a week to live on? Raise that $30 and you can eat a healthy diet on $40 a week. The average expected grocery bill is $200 for one person a month. I've eaten healthy well balanced meals for less than that =)

Ah now I get it. Yes you're correct.

I don't know where you're from, but if you have an Aldi grocery store around you, I highly recommend shopping there! I went from spending $70-80 minimum at Kroger on groceries for just myself every week, to spending the same amount every two weeks at Aldi. And they have incredible produce most of the time. In fact, the grapes and peppers I bought on Monday were SO good, that I'm going to have to make another trip there tomorrow.

(Edited to add that I am super picky when it comes to grapes. They have to be red and MUST be crunchy. Out of the whole bunch I just bought, I only pitched three single grapes!!!)
