If you normally don't smell it during workouts, and you're drinking enough water, then you probably didn't eat enough carbohydrates in the hours leading up to your workout, which makes your body burn more protein as fuel. That protein can come from either your diet or your muscles, depending on whether you've eaten recently.

Is your pee brownish? That is a very bad sign of muscle break-down. Otherwise I agree with Cherimoose.

I get that too when WO above lactate threshold. My guess it's the hormonal cocktail that the body produces when at anaerobic intensity. It could also be related to glycogen use.

It's pretty common to smell in spinning class or in the weight area.

It's NOT breaking down muscle, lol.

It's caused by inadequate glycogen so you are burning protein for energy.

    Eat more carbs.

Possibly ketosis? My friend had this from exercising too much and eating too little. Her sweet and urine smelt like ammonia and she ended up in hospital.
