Changed from 1200 calories to 1500 , is that too high?

BEen dieting for about 2 months after putting on a mahooosive 58 pounds last year due to a mental health relapse. I started out with the "get it off now or sooner" attitude but 1200 calories is really too low for me with the medication I take and the fact I want a life! So this week I changed my goals to 1 pound a week loss and am at around 1500 calls per day. I am 42 years old, my height is 5ft 4 and I now weigh 220 pounds after losing 18 pounds so far. I wondered if I should expect to see some results in a couple of weeks or maybe three while my body adjusts to higher calories, I put sedentary in but I am starting to walk more but I don't want to include this in calories taken.

I'm about the same age and height, and I've been losing at 1500 plus exercise calories. I'm sure I could lose a little faster if I ate less, but I'd rather have more energy and go a little slower. I just bumped it up to 1600 this week, since I'm closer to my goal.0

2. 1500 calories should be okay. Walk more and exercise when you can.
Good luck. And remember, burn more than you eat. And with that you can eat anything you want!1592984904984984089984980 wrote: »1. You can have a life and not eat like a dump truck.

1500 is not eating like a dump truck. I read in another thread that you don't like to coddle people. But you don't have to be a douche either.

Healthstatus.com calc based on 5'4" 42yr female
"According to your height of 5' 4" your ideal healthy weight is 130 pounds. Your recommended weight range is between 116 and 145 pounds. "
Your Sed TDEE for 133 lbs. is 1499 cal. ( iifym.com calculator )
So ... eating @ 1500 cal/day will allow you to lose weight. The rate will slow as you get closer to your natural healthy range. You should end up around 130-135 lbs. ( +/- daily fluctuation ), if you maintain that level of intake.
Your current TDEE @ 220 lbs. is 2173 cal.
So, anything less than that will result in weight loss.

Thanks for the replies, I am finding that 1400-1500 calls is much more do-able than the 1200 and just wanted to see if that was considered ok, very good info on the TDEE0
