Food scale confusion

I've been dieting for over a year with out using a food scale.
I only have about 10 pounds (or less) to go,
So I decided I should buy a food scale.
I work at a restaurant so I bought a small one that I've been taking with me.
This morning I got 1 biscuit and sausage gravy.
I didn't want to bother the cooks by making them put things in seperate containers.
So instead I weighed my plate before I ate, and then after.
It was 1 lb 19 oz of food that I ate.
I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how much I ate.
But, from what I've found it could have been the upwards of 800 calories.
I'm not going to get too upset since today is my cheat day anyways.
But it's definitely a lesson learned.
I eat gravy and biscuits a few times a week!
Any opinions on if that sounds close to the right calories or not?
I know there's no real way to tell, and the biscuits are homemade so I can't find it from a box.

There is not point in weighing two foods at the same time. Also, the biscuit is made up of several ingredients as in the gravy. Talk to the cooks to ask them how they can best help you.
Or pick food that is easily weigh-able like a piece of plain meat and a veggie with no sauce.
