Post workout nutrition

As I've gotten more active and intensified my running my nutritionist is helping me fuel my body to be able to run optimally. She suggested having 30g of carbs within 30 mins of working out or running. I'm having a hard time trusting it, only because it seems counterintuitive since I have some more weight I'd like to lose. Is there a guide for when or how much? For example, if I run 3 miles do I still need the 30 grams? Or is it more on the longer runs?

I see her again this week and will ask, but thought I'd see what others do!

You just need a calorie deficit to lose weight... Doesn't really matter when you eat your carbs, especially for shorter distance runs.

This is pre workout nutrition you're speaking of and not post workout. It's just 3 miles so I don't believe the pre workout is needed.
But as mentioned, you just have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. You might try the running by taking in pre workout and see how you feel, then the next time without. Experimentation is really the only way to know.
