its 3:21 and I only have 169 cals left. I can take a walk later with my 9 month old but no way to get to the gym until tomorrow. I never get myself in this situation! Thoughts, suggestions, encouragement?

Eat less tomorrow. Some people kind of average out their calories for the week.

Occasionally I get the urge to eat some cookies or a snack before bedtime. If this happens and I'm already over my calories for the day, I'll just log them for the next day and eat less or workout more to offset it. It is a weekly average you are striving for, so you can have some wiggle room this way.

I would eat a huge salad with some meat.
going a bit a day over your calorie allowance doesn't make you gain weight. Just plan better tomorrow that's all.

Another thing is, that you just make your deficit smaller for today that's all. It takes 3500 calories SURPLUS ( so above your maintenance level) to gain a pound. So no big deal to go over your calorie allowance one day. Just dont make a habit of it. That will slow down your weight loss journey.

Thanks for the replies! A salad with some meat on it sounds like a great idea!

Days like that I make the decision to eat at maintenance (so 500 over my goal) I usually don't need all 500, but knowing that I can eat up to that without gaining weight makes it easier.

If you set MFP to lose 2 lbs per week, you have a 1000 calorie per day deficit built in. As long as you don't exceed your maintenance level, you're still in a deficit for the day.
