Weird questions maybe...

I'm not new to the diet / counting calories / keeping track thing. I've had fat kid syndrome all my life, what can I say - I like to eat. I'm a good cook, so is my Mom. *shrug* No shame in my game. I know how to measure properly and weigh stuff out.
So obviously, since I've been tracking stuff, I noticed this odd thing. If I eat pasta for dinner - any pasta as a main dish - spaghetti, ravioli, even basic plates like goulash. I do much better the next day with calories and being hungry. Now, I measure out when I eat pasta, so yeah, they're not good for you, but I usually measure out a cup or two and as long as I do about 2.5 to 3 miles on the treadmill, I'm still meeting my calorie goals. Especially this last week while I've been experimenting with this.
My bad days have me only under goal of 200. Good days have me under goal by about 650. This is with about 45 minutes to an hour on the treadmill tacked on, I tend to burn off between 300 and 400 calories on the treadmill.
Question is, has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? I'm still dropping weight, I'm still hitting daily goals so I'm not too bothered by it, I was just curious if anyone else has run into this.

Pasta isn't bad for you; I would recommend weighing it on a food scale dry (before cooking), as measuring cups are not accurate for things that are not liquids; wasn't sure if you are doing this, since you mentioned measuring and weighing in the same sentence. Additionally, the goal that MFP sets for you is what you should be eating minimum per day; your deficit is already built in. Eating 600+ calories under it may lead to you eating too few calories to fuel your workouts.
I've personally never experienced that, since I map out my days pretty well, and have an idea of what I plan to eat. I also love pasta, so any time I can fit it in multiple times per week is a win for me, haha. Especially when I eat it with a good serving of protein, and load up my sauce with wilted spinach and other fresh vegetables. Great way for me to get my protein, carbs, and a serving of veggies in one meal.0 -
Yeah! That's what I do. I like the sauce and veggies and meats that go in more than I like the pasta anyway. No I haven't been doing the dry weight, never even thought of that lol. I'll do that.
Maybe I'm weird lol in work a swing shift 3 days a week and a grave 2 nights a week, I thought maybe that was part of it also. Idk. I'm not complaining if pasta makes me not hungry and I'm still losing.
Also I didn't know that about the built in deficits. Thanks for that info.0
