Never been much of a "distance" runner. Usually try and keep my runs to 3-5 miles and might throw in a 6-8 miler every once in awhile. I had been toying with the idea of running a half and last week ran a pretty fast (for me) 7.5 miles at just under an 8min/mi pace. I had a lapse in judgement Friday night and kind of went on a food binge, so as my reward/punishment, I went to bed deciding that I would run a half in the morning. That was all the notice that I gave myself. Woke up just after 7 got dressed, laced up the shoes and hit the road by 7:30. Less than two hours later I'd completed my first half marathon and kept pretty much all of my mile splits between 8:20-8:40. Didn't even feel like I was going to die! Now I'm thinking I might want to try for the 26.2, but know that's not going to be a roll out of bed one morning and do kind of run. It's on my bucket list though, so it's going to happen at one point.

Thanks! It's so nice having my body to the point where it will do just about anything I ask of it again...within reason.

That's pretty awesome! Farthest I have ever run is just over 9 miles. I usually only do 3-7 mile runs. But have been thinking I need to step my game up.

Other than the weekend I just don't have the time to go for a two hour run. I'm much more inclined to try and better my speed on my shorter runs than to better my distance. That's just me though.
