440 calories left - should I eat??

Today I've 920 calories with my goal as 1360 (Though I don't really mind if it goes a bit over). I've also done a bit of walking around today, but I haven't logged any exercise because I wasn't keeping track of time/speed etc so I really can't guess. Anyway, I have 440 calories left, but I'm going to bed in 1 hour...is it okay if I don't eat them? I'm just worried about the whole "no less than 1200 calories" thing :l

For one day? Not an issue. For every day? Could be an issue, since you haven't a lot of weight to lose.

    eat if you're hungry...

I don't get hungry all that often..usually I have to remind myself to eat every 3 hours! I have a small stomach, and if I only ate when hungry, I'd be having MUCH less calories than I do

I would only consume more calories if you're hungry/feel you need to. If you're content, it's probably best to just let them go. Think of yourself as doing better than recommended! And when you eat right before bed, those cals just stay there... With exercising, I never keep track of time and speed, but I still document it. I always give rough estimates, but play it safe by under estimating myself.

I think these logs are great and can be great sources to look back on. And with food, I always over estimate, so hopefully my results are better than they look on here. (I don't vary too much, just little bits when proportions are a little different than what I really did.)

For today eating before going to bed is not of any use. for next days, maybe nutrition is not where you should concentrate in order to loose weight. Maybe find a good friend who could motivate you to join doing some exercise.

One day won't hurt but regularly eating so few calories is not good. Really even 1200 is really low, so try to get them in. Also I'm not sure why you wouldn't eat them but it sounds like it may be because it's close to bed time. You shouldn't be concerned about that. Just go ahead and eat regardless of time.

Less is not better. It's a calorie goal because you're supposed to hit it as closely as possible, not go under.

Also it's not true that metabolism stops during sleep. Meal timing is pretty much irrelevant.

Yeah, I've always been told not to eat two hours before bedtime?? Though if I'm hungry, I completely ignore that haha. if I'm hungry, I eat. But since I'm not hungry, I was just concerned because I don't' think 920 calories is very healthy :\ I just had a piece of fruit though and will let it slide tonight :)

Maybe I'll treat myself tomorrow to balance it out ;D

If you're not hungry now, you can always just remember you didn't eat them later on, when you're thinking about indulging in something that might not fit into your calorie count for that day...

That "don't eat two hours before bedtime" is a myth. It gets propagated a lot but it still isn't true. Now, some people find that eating close to bedtime causes reflux and if that's the case then you shouldn't eat. But that's the only reason.

Absolutely it's fine to eat more tomorrow to compensate. Some people go by a weekly instead of daily goal so that they can have higher and lower days.

ETA: I eat right before bed every night

Once in a while wont hurt..but if you're not hungry, a good way to pack some calories I is by having s spoon of peanut butter.

If you really don't want to eat, then don't. But try not to make a habit of it. Long-term deep deficits can cause your body to release hormones that are counterproductive to weight loss.

No they don't! Your stomach/digestive system doesn't magically shut down just because it's bedtime. Sheesh.

    ^^^^ THIS

But I would say try not to go under 1200 a day regularly.

Save them for another day when you want to eat more/have an extra glass of wine. I monitor over the week as well as daily, and "saved up" 700 calories for our BBQ last weekend.

I always think of it like bidding on Wheel of Fortune. You want to be a close as you can without going over.

Proper nutrition and body function will help you get fit and feel better throughout the day. Maybe throw in a healthy snack here or there to up your calories without hurting your progress. It's important that you eat throughout the day both for weight loss and for your health overall.
