Does MFP automatically calculate the # of calories burned based on your personal information input?

This has always confused me.. example: if I walk 45 minutes on treadmill, it says 275 calories, but on MFP when i add treadmill for exercise, it may say 325. Which do I go by?

Yes, they base their calories estimation on your personal info.

The treadmill will have it's own way of formulating your calorie estimate. Some models allow you to put in age, weight, etc. Others don't.

Which one to go by depends on which has more of your info. But at the end of the day you need ot remember these are all just estimates. Personally, I go with the lowest.

Pick the lower one...or get a 3rd opinion to see how your machine did. Calorie burns are estimates...MFP is notoriously "generous."

Here's a calculator based on your weight...and walking speed:

Teabea, do you know of a calculator that can be downloaded onto iPhones?

MapMyWalk is popular...no personal experience (I have a FitBit). I think it has a pedometer, so it's not just for GPS.
