Am I doing enough?

I've been working out for exactly a month on Thursday. I do 3-4 days a week strength training and cardio. Usually 10 min warmup on treadmill 45 minutes of weights, ab excersises, and 30 minutes on the elliptical. I've noticed a huge change in my muscle tone, a little change in my body shape, and no change on the scale. In fact, I've gained about 2 pounds, but i'm hoping that's just related to my muscles? I know everyones body types are different and I'm used to being very sedentary so I know my body is trYing to catch up. I was just hoping I'd see more of a change on the scale or in my jeans by now. I just want to know I'm doing enough and It'LL eventually pay off. I'm not in a rush to make big changes, I just want to know that in a month from now i'LL start seeing some movement on the scale or maybe my jeans will feel a little bigger :). Any advice or criticisms would be great.

I can tell you that when I was losing weight, my coaches told me you need to train for a minimum of 5 hours per week if you want to lose. I'm sure other people will say that's not necessary. It's what I aimed for and it worked.

Also, you haven't mentioned your eating habits. The other thing my coaches were big on was, "You can't out-train a bad diet." Are you tracking what you eat? I'm sure someone will chime in very soon to remind you that weight loss is a matter of calories in being less than calories out.

I hope that helps a little.

weight loss is like 75% diet. u dont mention that at all. ur workouts are fine. any working out is great. i walk/jog twice a week and strength train twice a week. each workout is 20-30 min. ive lost 60lb. what is your calorie goal? are u eating back exercise calories? how much do u have to lose? if u are already close to goal it can be slow... but after a month u probably should have seen something
  • I didn't mention my diet because before I started working out I changed my eating habits and actually saw results. When I added the working out in I stopped seeing changes. I thought it could be from not eating enough, but I eat 5 times a day. I eat around 1400 on the days I don't workout and closer to 1900 on the days I do. Lots of grilled chicken, veggies, yogurt, no fruits after 2 pm no red meat after 5. I just try to eat when I'm hungry and drink water or tea the rest of the time. The fact that I haven't seen any results besides muscle gain makes me concerned.

One month and you've gained 2lbs? You're probably eating right around maintenance and recomping. Especially if you gained the 2lbs early on.
