Oh man, that must stink. I don't know anything about a low protein diet, can you tell us more? Like, how low do you have to keep the level?

80g is the most I can have in a day. But avg of 60-g70g is best. To put in perspective 4 oz of chicken is 35g. Plus other things have protein besides meat. So it has been 2 meals with 3 oz of chicken or turkey and 1 meatless meal. I'm not allowed red meat and because my kidney disease causes my Uric acid to be high I can't have shell fish either. Just have a hard time of not getting burned out cause I don't have enough variety of recipes and meal ideas.

Well, I'm no dietitian, but it sounds like maybe you need some good vegetarian ideas. Have you ever heard of the Moosewood cookbooks? I have the "Cooks at Home" one and it's full of unusual & flavorful recipes that aren't full of weird ingredients. Skinnytaste might be another place to look for new ideas -- she lists out the nutrition info on all her recipes too so that might help you plan. Sometimes it can help to just go out and try new things, too, for ideas on how to cook. Thai and Indian food come to mind as flavorful but low on meat if you need new flavor combinations.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. 80g a day would be tough for me, let alone 60. Keep us posted.

I usually average about what your max is. It isn't particularly low. Take a look at my diary. I do better on higher carbs because my muscles need as much cheap energy as possible because of a metabolic condition, so I stay at about 40-80 g a day of protein usually.

I don't recommend my two-day "let's just eat granola" plan, though. LOL. It was a controlled binge....

I’m also on a low protein diet, as a month ago. My kidney doctor told me .06 grams of protein per kilo, or 32 grams a day. No red meat. Have to try to change my low carb diet that I’ve been on for 5 years since I also have type2 diabetes. Well poop! Just what I needed, another diet restriction. Mostly eating thin sliced turkey and chicken, cream cheese, Sara Lee delightful bread (low carb and 3 grams of protein a slice) Thank god I don’t need to worry about potassium. Thankfully, my doctor caught the kidney disease early. But I’m struggling with what to eat. I get so burned out eating the same foods all the time. I do have a recipe for keto chocolate chip cookies, 1 gram of protein each. Woohoo! I can have 32 cookies a day!
