Building muscle at home...is it possible??

I have recently met my weight goal. I now want to get stronger and more fit. I do run on the treadmill and try to stay in shape, but didn't know if anyone had some good ideas of what I could do up my strength. I don't know where to start (I know lift heavy stuff). I have looked at lifting, but do not have the proper equipment for it (I only have an old cheap weight bench and don't know how to use it). I have tried Insanity, but due to time constraints, can't do it by the program suggestions. 45 minutes 6 days a week is a lot for me to carve out. I can usually get in 3 a week or so. Any suggestions??

5x5. You can do a lot with a bench. Crap, you dont even need 'weights', fill up some sandwich bags with sand, add bags of sand to a ruck sack, do squats!

Nope, the air in the gym is anabolic. Impossible to build muscle at home.

If you have a weight bench, learn to use it. Nobody was born knowing how to lift weights. (Well, I guess technically we all understand the basic idea of lifting heavy things but having good form is a different issue.) There are a million bajillion videos online to help you with it. Look at bodybuilding.com videos and youtube videos (Mark Rippetoe, Buff Guys, Scott Herman Fitness, Jonnie Candito, etc.) for form help.

Thanks for the helpful replies @rybo @csman49 and @jemhh
I am going to look into some of it.

@csman49 Do you think 50 lb bags of cattle feed would help? I lift them fairly frequently but don't do specific exercises with them...

Bodyweight exercises can be done anywhere, require no equipment (with the exception of pull-ups), and take very little time to complete. If you're just looking to build a little bit of strength, try push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, pull-ups (assuming you have a bar), squats, lunges, and calf raises. You hit all the major muscle groups with this. You won't get huge like this, but you can certainly build and tone your muscles like this and build up strength.

@acarmon55 lifting ANYTHING will help. If you have 50lb bags of feed, use them. Stick them in a rucksack, go stair walking with it on your back, do squats, use your bench and bench press it, etc.... 50lb of cattle feed weighs the same as 50lb of steel plates
