Adding 8 years to my life. Three months a week.

I am 64. Soon, I will post my photo. Don't know how to do that yet.
I recently had a physical. I am 60 pounds overweight. Based on my age and vitals I will live about 8 years less if I remain obese. At 2 pounds per week, I will be adding 3 months to the end of my life every week I stay faithful! Also, I love my keto recipes. I will have trouble giving up fat bombs. My macros will be 25% protein, 25% carbs, and 60% fat. Anyone having any luck with those numbers?

Hey there, I'm new to this and cannot help you out with your Macro percentages but I wanted to let you know that I think what you're doing is wonderful and that you have encouraged me to consider my weight in a new way. Thank you.0

I like that way of thinking about it! There are so many reasons to try to stick to a diet, and adding years to your life is a great one. I used that motivator to quit smoking 5.5 years ago, and hadn't thought to apply it to dieting yet.
Good luck! LYD0 -
Also, to add a picture:
Click your name at the top (Hi, JamesD!) and it'll take you to your profile. From there, there's a blue button that says "Edit Photos". Then you can upload one from your computer.0 -

Is that "old school" math? 25% + 25% + 60% = 110% :noway: LOL! I've used 40% carb, 20% protein, 40% fat for the last 5 years and have lost 180lbs and counting. When I began, I was told by my RD that she wanted me to have a higher fat eating plan to moderate hunger while I was learning to eat smaller, more appropriate portion sizes and fewer calories. It sure works for me!!! I'm healthier than ever and hunger has never been a problem. Cheers!!! :drinker:0

Wow. What a story of patience you are. I think I will be more confident that a 60% fat goal can work. I have found the high fat oil in my coffee with heavy cream keeps me satisfied for several hours.0
