I just used a machine that you sit in and pull yourself up with this weird pully thing. The seat slides back and forth while your arms do most of the work.
Does anyone know what I just used?

Up as in up toward the ceiling or do you mean forward? Was it a rowing machine?

You said pull yourself "up", the girl in that picture isn't going up. I would guess you were using the Total Gym? You can adjust the incline level and do all kinds of fun things with it, including an easy start to pull ups.
