Jawbone calories

Hi I wonder if anyone can help clarify something for me. I am currently using the jawbone up24 to estimate calories burned and sync it on here with my calorie intake.

Including my resting burn it estimates I have burned 2,221 calories today. I have eaten 1,459 calories. The app automatically sets my intake goal at a deficit for weight loss but it still says I have another 511 calories remaining for today.

This seems really high to me. Does anyone know if this sound correct?

Thank you :)

What is your goal set to, in terms of weight loss per week?

It seems to be saying your projected burn today is 2221. You've eaten 1459, can eat another 511 for 1970 total. 2221 - 1970 = 251. So if your goal is 1/2 pound per week, this seems right.

Though it wouldn't hurt, with a small goal of .5 pounds per week, to be conservative. Assume your 2221 burn is off by 5-10%. Just on the basis that a tracker may not be 100% accurate. If it were off by 10% you might only burn ~2000: so you'd have almost 300 left instead of 500.

That makes more sense to me now. I'll just try to compensate and allow for inaccuracies by lowing the amount I have left slightly like you said. Thank you

As near as I can tell, my U24 is overestimating my calories 276 per day... about 1.16%.

Part of that might be measurement/margin of error on my calories in, too. I was actually very impressed with how closely the UP24's TDEE matched my actual weight loss.
