Macro Question

Hi! I'm still a newbie here learning the ropes but I had a question. Is the goal to stay under your calories and your macros or one or the other? And does MFP give accurate macro limitations or should I look elsewhere for those?

Thanks!

The goal should be to hit your calorie and macro goal. Macro limitations? You can set your macro ratios to whatever you want.

By limitations, for example, MFP has 30 grams of protein as the goal.

I manually set mine because i wanted to gain more muscle. Look under your profile settings

If my goal is to just lose weight at the moment, then do I stick with the MFP recommended macros? Or go with the ones listed on another site? http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/

^That calculator looks like it would provide better macro guidelines than MFP's default.

To lose weight look at calories.

For body comp and health look at both.

MFP has their macros set at a min daily recommended so if you do go over it's not a big deal.

Set your own macros...I know that I lose weight better with a lower fat and higher carb than recommended. The Macros are set based on a calorie intake (in any calculator) so as long as you are hitting those numbers then dont sweat the actual calorie number.
