Any runners using the "pose" method?

I'll be doing a running clinic starting next week up until October and they teach the Pose method. Has anyone trained using that method specifically and if so, have you found it improved your running at all (as in less injuries, faster speed etc)?

I use it. I self taught it using the book a couple of years ago. It is essentially identical to both Chi Running and Good Form Running.

Once I adapted it did improve my running because it cured all my old running pains. This in turn allowed me to run a lot more which improved my ability over time.

It may seem a little weird and hard to do at first depending on your current form. It did for me at least. But since I adapted to it I cannot run the old way even if i try as it seems so awkward and uncomfortable.

You can still injure yourself with bad training like too much speedwork or pushing the pace too much on a daily basis. So it doesn't cure that. But it does allow me to run pretty high consistent mileage without any nagging pains, particularly with my knees which used to hurt all the time.

I'm going to learn more about and practice this style (without the minimalist shoes). One thing I read to help guide you through the style is to "Listen to your footsteps--Land soft and silent".

I wonder if I naturally run more like this anyway...I watched some videos and tried to start figuring it out a bit on my own and I ended up with stuff hurting when it never does when I just run with my usual form. When I run as feels right I have a fairly short stride with my foot landing pretty close to my body and I land somewhere between midfoot and the front of my foot. Nothing ever hurts and I never get tired, winded or feel like I've been exerting much energy. As for soft and silent footsteps, it never fails...every single time I come around from behind someone on the sidewalk the response is the same. They jump and exclaim "HOLY $@!&" because they didn't hear me coming and had no idea I was there until I was right beside them...even though I try to make MORE noise when I come up behind people. lol

I wonder if I'm trying to fix something that's not broken.

From your description it sounds like you have good form already, or very close to it. It won't hurt to go to the clinic though. You never know what you might learn.

true story. AND I won the registration already at a silent auction so it's a $140 value for $30. wouldn't want to miss out on that....especially since I already paid....and it might include registration for the marathon they're trying to get people geared up for.
